1. What this page covers
The city cover images on Rotavi come from free, openly reusable sources. This page publishes which frame came from which source under which licence: some Creative Commons licences require that the creator be credited.
The scope is the cover frames used in the planner and on city and guide pages. The interface's own graphics (brand mark, icons, country flags) are outside the scope of this page.
2. Sources
Cover frames are downloaded from these three sources, always in this order: a curated catalogue image if one exists, otherwise media from the city's own Wikipedia/Commons page, and Pexels last.

Most frames come from here. Licences vary per frame (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA, public domain); those requiring attribution are listed individually in the ledger below.

For cities the other two sources leave empty. The Pexels licence does not require attribution.
Licence textFor a city with no local frame the interface shows a temporary placeholder image; that image is not a photograph of the city and is outside the scope of this page.
3. Changes we made to the images
Creative Commons 4.0 requires that modifications be indicated. The change is the same for every frame:
Images have been downscaled from their original size and converted to WebP; no other modifications were made.
No cropping is done: downscaling preserves the original aspect ratio, and a frame whose ratio does not fit is discarded before download.

The ledger is still empty.
The pipeline that downloads the images read the licence and creator at download time but never wrote them to disk. So the frames currently published have no recorded credits, and those credits cannot be reconstructed after the fact: the file on disk is a downscaled copy of the original work and does not carry its provenance.
Credits are now written to disk at download time. As frames are re-downloaded together with their credits this ledger will fill up and the two numbers above will change accordingly. If you are the rights holder of a frame and believe your credit is missing, write to us and we will either remove the frame or complete its credit.
